British Government Statement on a Losing High Court

A British court ruled that the government requires parliamentary approval to being the process of leaving the European Union.
The ruling will potentially delay the prime minister’s plans to exit the EU, as the government said it would appeal the ruling by England’s High Court.
That appeal is expected to reach Britain’s Supreme Court next month.
However, Britain’s top court may defer to the lower court’s ruling as the requirement for a parliamentary vote is stipulated in the EU’s Lisbon Treaty under Article 50.
Britain’s Brexit minister David Davis added a new law may be drafted to exit the EU, despite Article 50, if the supreme court upholds the decision.
